The E48-32 error appears on DSTV when the decoder is not receiving signal from the satellite dish or the signal quality is too weak (typically below 50%. This could be because the dish is out of alignment (the dish has moved during heavy wind or rainfall), there's an obstruction close to and in front of the dish, such as a tree or high walls, there's a malfunctioning LNB (signal receiver) or decoder or poor cable connection.
DSTV installers typically charge a call out fee starting from R350. Labour may be charged per hour depending on the nature of the installation the customer requires. For instance, it costs more to install an extraview (2 or 3 decoders) that a single decoder watching on a single TV set. Labour rates range from R400 to R650 per hour. Equipment and materials are charged separately, should you require the installer to supply any.
The E16 error message usually indicates that your DSTV service has been interrupted, often because of an inactive subscription or decoder authorization issue. Here’s how to resolve it:
1. Check Your Subscription: Log in to your DSTV account to verify that your subscription is active and up-to-date. If the subscription has expired, renew it to restore access.
2. Reset the Decoder: Try rebooting the decoder by unplugging it from the power source, waiting 10 seconds, then plugging it back in.
3. Use Self Service: If the subscription is active but you still see the E16 error, go to any DSTV Self Service portal and request a re-authorization. You can attaempt to use the DSTV WhatsApp number: 060 060 3788, or call DSTV customer support on 011 289 2222.
